The characteristics and wide applications of polypropylene glycol 1500
Characteristics of Poly (propylene glycol) 1500
Basic Attributes
Poly (propylene glycol) 1500, a colorless and transparent liquid, is not unique among PPG series products. They all have similar appearances and it is difficult to distinguish their respective models from the appearance. Its color (Pt Co) does not exceed 20, its hydroxyl value (mgKOH/g) ranges from 68 to 83, and its molecular weight is in the range of 1350 to 1650. In addition, its acid value (mgKOH/g) is not greater than 0.5, its moisture content (%) is not more than 0.5, and its pH value is maintained within the weakly acidic range of 5 to 7.
Synthesis process
As a non-ionic surfactant, polypropylene glycol 1500 is formed by the condensation of propylene oxide and propylene glycol under high pressure or acidic catalyst, and is a condensation product of propylene oxide.
Application areas of polypropylene glycol 1500
Solubility and Application Industry
Poly (propylene glycol) 1500 can dissolve in organic solvents such as toluene, ethanol, and trichloroethylene, exhibiting multiple properties including lubrication, solubilization, defoaming, and anti-static. Therefore, it has a wide range of applications in various industries such as daily chemical, pharmaceutical, oil and rubber.
Specific Use
Polypropylene glycol PPG1500 performs well in the field of anti foaming agents, with significant anti foaming effects despite its low dosage. Therefore, it is often used in the processing of synthetic rubber and latex, and can also be used as an anti foaming agent for coatings and hydraulic oils.
Poly (propylene glycol) 1500 has excellent chemical stability and heat resistance, and can work stably in high temperature environments, ensuring safe use.
In addition, polypropylene glycol 1500 can also be used to adjust the viscosity of polymers and improve their flowability. It plays an important role as a viscosity regulator and viscosity improver in the manufacturing and use of hot melt adhesives.
Poly (propylene glycol) 1500 can also be used as an additive in synthetic oils, such as water-soluble cutting fluids, roller oils, and hydraulic oils. It can also be used to prepare release agents and solubilizers.
By utilizing its excellent lubricity, polypropylene glycol 1500 can be used as a high-temperature lubricant to provide lubrication protection for rubber.
In the daily chemical, pharmaceutical, and oil industries.
Polypropylene glycol 1500 is often used as a base material and can also serve as an important intermediate for esterification, etherification, and condensation reactions.
