Analysis of the energy storage market this week
This week, the bidding situation in the energy storage market has declined compared to last week, and the winning situation is still good compared to last week. Some large capacity energy storage projects have been tendered or won, and it is expected that the future trend will develop towards large energy storage. Large capacity battery cells will also be launched one after another.
This week, energy storage batteries have been quite differentiated, with some battery companies still having orders at the end of the year, while some tail end companies have relatively flat transactions, with almost no orders available for delivery. This week, the price of battery cells is also in a continuous downward trend, and the price of low-cost battery cells has basically approached around 0.4 yuan/Wh. The downstream is in a wait-and-see situation, and overall, the market is relatively quiet.
In addition, starting from December, 20 regions including Zhejiang, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangdong, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Qinghai, Shandong, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Chongqing, Xinjiang, Fujian, and Guangxi will implement peak electricity prices, an increase of 9 provinces and cities compared to last month. The maximum peak valley electricity price difference in Shanghai reached 1.6994 yuan/kWh, followed closely by Hunan, reaching 1.5543 yuan/kWh. The further widening of the peak valley electricity price gap and the improvement of the time of use electricity price mechanism are expected to provide greater economic benefits for industrial and commercial energy storage.
In terms of bidding, this week, Guangdong Energy Group Xinjiang Co., Ltd. envied the bid opening for the procurement of energy storage system equipment, and CRRC Zhuzhou won the bid at a price of 0.638 yuan/Wh. It is worth noting that this price is even lower than the lowest bid record of 0.66 yuan/Wh in the energy storage bidding project of Longyuan Power last month. Currently, 0.638 yuan/Wh is the lowest bid price in history. If viewed from a cost perspective, the corresponding battery cell for this price may only be 0.368 yuan/Wh.
In addition, according to the latest new energy installation data released by the National Energy Administration, from January to October this year, wind power increased by 37.31 million kilowatts and photovoltaic power increased by 142 million kilowatts in China's new energy power generation installation, an increase of 76% and 145% respectively. At the end of the year, photovoltaic and wind power are also being installed in a centralized manner, which is also beneficial for energy storage.
This week, the European Commission also drafted a bill to expand investment in the European power grid, with plans to invest 584 billion euros (approximately 4.55 trillion yuan) by 2030. This is also great positive news for the overseas energy storage market.
Xinlun Information: The grid connection/operation status of some energy storage projects this week is as follows:
